Talking about depression and loneliness: Gabi’s story
A reading note on Gabi’s account of loneliness, depression and finding support, published by the Mental Health Foundation.
Reading notes from Your Therapy. Source shared by Jonathan Campbell.
In her story for the Mental Health Foundation, Gabi describes feeling disconnected even when surrounded by people who cared about her. Reaching a milestone birthday brought a gap between the life she expected and the life she was living into focus.
She explains how therapy and gradually speaking to colleagues helped her feel less isolated. Her account also explores making room for difficult days, recognising when she needs support and setting more realistic expectations for herself.
This is Gabi’s personal experience, rather than a description of how depression affects everyone.
